Have you e'er
seen a most familiar place
That you have known for fifty years or more.
Have recognized each indent in the shore
And felt that you had seen it all before?
Such was my
feeling as I left Ste. Anne's
Delightful village, and the Island's best
Where rapids caused the Voyageurs to pause
And say a prayer, e'er they headed West
But when I
walked through Kitzbuhel's lovely Inn
And saw a sheet of water at my feet,
I felt true peace-of-mind, my heart within
A new-felt rapture for an old retreat.
The morning mist had risen from
the lake
Revealing objects in a new, soft light.
With clear reflections visible again
To satisfy my keen and eager sight.
Macdonald
College clearly to the North
And Dowker's Island to the Eastern view.
The channel-cut with walls upon each side
And happy houses in a misty blue.
So when you go
to visit Old Kitzbuhel
And sit beside the river's restful shore
May you relax in beauty--as I did
And feel full peace-of-mind for evermore
